15-20 minutes to sweat 550g of sliced onions down and another 30-35 minutes to cook down to jam. Near the end of cooking I had a tast and decided to add a bit of salt. Yield: 3/4 of a jam jar of tasty conserve.

The day started with a dusting of snow (yuck) with hail for afters. Supper is sunshine. Fennel poha (flattened rice) with pickled onions and tomato chutney.

Since I retired 2 years ago, I've rediscovered my love of #crossstitch embroidery. It's calming, productive, and meditative. I prefer projects that can be used rather than just hung on the wall, like these piano keyboard runners.
