From who has been allowed to conduct science, whom we imbue with the title of expert, what kinds of knowledge we consider valid, why we do science, and how science has been applied (and misapplied) throughout history, it’s a misnomer to assert that science has ever been apolitical.

In a similar vein we were discussing the left the light on classic of "it's like Blackpool illuminations in here!" (Which apparently is not universal in the UK???) And discovered the french equivalent is "this is not Versailles" I found the contrast very amusing
