Moral high ground?!? That's the most expensive real estate on the face of the earth! - Larry Ellison (who otherwise sucks but this is a good quote)

📍NYC
In perhaps the best example yet of real estate brokers saying things about Mamdani’s election that are totally detached from market reality and just trying to drum up brokerage business for themselves, this guy is claiming it’s both a great buying opportunity AND a great selling opportunity.

Imagine how crazy you have to be to send this to all of your colleagues in response to an email from your boss calling for unity.

The most interesting section of the map of NYC's pro-housing ballot measure results is Southeast Queens, which has mostly NIMBY politicians but voted for all the pro-housing ballot props with pretty big margins.
November 5, 2025 at 6:29 PM
but Elizabeth Street Garden voted *for* the pro-housing ballot measures!
November 5, 2025 at 5:45 PM
lmao basically the entire SoHo/NoHo rezoning area voted against the pro-housing ballot propositions www.atlasizer.com?s=USA,New_Yo...

Total YIMBY victory, the upzonings commence at once!
November 5, 2025 at 3:05 AM
Since Mamdani won the primary, brokers and developers have been playing the press like a fiddle with tales of exodus in a transparent attempt to drum up business from reactionary real estate buyers/sellers.

Props to the FT for deciding to call bullshit! on.ft.com/47DSu5G

And now @shaunabreu.bsky.social is the third councilmember to demonstrate their commitment to affordable housing by openly supporting ballot measures 2-5!
November 4, 2025 at 2:44 PM
Shocked that this pollster managed to survey 77 rent controlled tenants given that they represent just 1% of all rental units in the city. I bet many of them are in fact rent-stabilized.
October 31, 2025 at 5:44 PM
It didn't have to be this way, here's a more handsome building of similar scale and vintage in outer Queens, where rents were/are way lower than North Brooklyn.
October 31, 2025 at 4:15 PM
I'm very glad this housing was built but I must admit that a lot of the low/mid-rise multifamily built in North Brooklyn in the 2000s continues to be quite unattractive.

Cuomo's so close to getting it here but to do so would shatter him www.nytimes.com/2025/10/30/n...

rereading this 2019 op-ed as the LIC rezoning and the charter amendments to speed housing production verge on passage reminds me of how far we've come.

The vision laid out by @caseyberk.bsky.social and @kynakwado.bsky.social in the wake of Amazon HQ2’s collapse is finally being realized nearly 7 years later! www.nydailynews.com/2019/02/17/a...

Tempting tbh
October 29, 2025 at 1:24 PM
My email advocating for the ballot proposals that would speed up housing production included nothing about Mamdani, democrats, or the like and yet still elicited this response, which possibly suggests that housing affordability has become democrat-coded?

In NYC, recess sometimes looks like preschoolers excitedly waiting for the Franklin Avenue Shuttle to pass underneath them.

Wonder who paid for these courtside seats
October 23, 2025 at 1:08 AM
I wish NYC’s prop tax regime discouraged situations like this site near city hall, which has been ready to develop for a ~decade. Owner wanted way too much when the market was good and now is in foreclosure bc construction no longer pencils. Everyone woulda been better off had they sold years ago!
