According to the statement, Ford will meet with Lutnick in Washington on Thursday to talk about "a renewed USMCA ahead of the April 2 reciprocal tariff deadline." The change of direction follows U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement that, in retribution for Ontario's energy export tax, he will increase planned tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminium to 50%.
