Three men are facing charges, and a fourth is recovering in the hospital following a violent machete assault in the parking lot of the McDonald’s at Kingsway Mall early Monday morning. Edmonton police say the incident happened around 4 a.m. near 111 Avenue and 106 Street, where three men were reportedly fighting with a fourth. One of the suspects was seen striking the man with a machete.

The incident happened around 9:10 p.m. on March 19 near Bay and Dundas streets. According to police, the suspect entered a store, placed several items into a basket, and left it near the front of the business. When an employee picked up the basket, the suspect allegedly assaulted them to retrieve it. Police say the suspect then sprayed both staff members with an unknown substance before fleeing the scene with the stolen items.

The investigation began in March 2025, when Calgary's District 4 Operations Team started looking into a suspect believed to be involved in drug trafficking. Officers later identified additional individuals allegedly distributing drugs in both Calgary and Edmonton.
