Finally getting back into a #languagelearning frame of mind now that the class I'm teaching is finishing up!

First step - revisit my daily routine. It's at this point I usually spend more time planning my routine than doing the work of learning! 🤭

it's funny how it corrects me gently when I get it wrong but is enthusiastically positive when I get it right...

"not quite correct..." versus "flawless"
"could be better..." versus "awesome"
etc.

would studying this fall under #sociallinguistics ?? 😂

Having finished reading "12 Minutes" (an existentially gripping story) and I'm A Cat (FanFan's Adventures - who knew following the day-to-day of a kitten could be so enthralling!), I find myself having to decide between two wildly different stories:

apparently, I'm 'quirky'* because:
> I love working from cli (& 😭when the first gui came out)
> I enjoy RegEx
> I get a little thrill with fstrings
> I like traditional textadventure games / MUDs

* actually I was called 'weird' 😂

There's nothing like starting a new project with #python to really get a sense of the gaps in your code knowledge! 🫣

I'm setting up my #evennia environment and rolling up my sleeves to craft an experimentatl #textadventure space and, well... I guess we'll see what happens 🤔

and I just made my #database server so secure that even I can't log in to it 🫥

it is really starting to feel like "one of _those_ weekends"

my brain is leaking... I love a good #database & I'm also doing the #python thing so I thought "let's put them together a bit more, shall we..." After a bit of exploring #sqlalchemy & other python/sql tools, I'm now mostlyin the brain-bleeding "what was I thinking?!?!?" stage of the process. 😱🫣🤕

tinkering with Notebook features and experienced a bit of a thrill with the "interactive podcast" feature - it was quite fun to engage with the content in that way... the voices were good; the sharing of who said what was a bit off, but not bad. #languagelearning #ai

I stumbled upon #evennia MUD/MU creation system and now I really _really_ want to complete the goal I set back in the 90s to create a MUD for #languagelearners This is bigger than a side quest though and hours in my day are stretched thin. What to do???

Just exploring (!)... how #AI (specifically, free version of #ChatGPT ) might handle #textadventure I like writing and programming so I won't be using AI to create a game. Still, I was curious. Here's how it is going so far (and not sure where it will end at this rate!!)

I (successfully!) followed a tutorial to create my first 2d game in #godot

There's always so much to learn when you're first beginning any new thing: the tool UI, the scripting language, etc. 😂😅

A "quick" return visit to Genesis Mud turned into an enjoyable 5-hour quest. I do love "old school" #textadventure games - parser style!
