It’s not clear we will have a civil war, but it may be that the white wing wins with nothing approaching even a single military battle, much less a civil war.
I’ve been writing about what I call “slow civil war” for some years now. This won’t tip us into the fast kind but it could bring us much closer. & friends, nobody would win that war. Nobody.

FBI Director announced the suspect was in custody, then less than two hours later said the suspect had been released. In the meantime, AFAIKl they ended the lockdown of the campus and that may have allowed the shooter to escape. We don't know the motive. It HAS prompted calls for mass slaughter.

Cut through the noise. This us the nest explainer on the history of racial eugenics in the context of the SS American Aragon ad I’ve seen. Worth your time.

This is my friend Therese - her TT handle is on the video. Neat explanation I’ve seen yet about why the Sydney Sweeney ad is so problematic.

I am a lifelong Democrat largely because it's been the only effective means electorally to support equality for all. he gutless and irrational silence of the Democratic leadership in the face of American Eagle's normalizing racial eugenic messaging in business is beyond disappointing.

I hope people understand that multiple declarations of national emergencies are coming in the next few months. Those will almost certainly be used to justify suspending habeas corpus and possibly martial law.

Law firms” decision to do pro bono reminds me of the restaurant scene in Goodfelllas. First, they were going to do in controversial work. Now, it’s coal industry or trade shakedowns. Later, maybe it will be renditioning immigrants and citizens alike. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/16/u...

We need to rethink the who will pick the crops truism. In the context of AI-driven autocracy, many will be downward mobile. Who will pick the crops? Maybe you … most likely people who have only recently made it into the middle class and are vulnerable to downward mobility.

Battle Cry of Freedom - I imagine Matthew Sabatella and the Rambling String Band might get a few cents from the thousands of plays they're getting after this song was played at the Harris-Walz rally in Wisconsin. Worth a listen.

Quite disappointing to see the Vatican participating in the campaign of falsehoods about the opening ceremonies at the Olympics. I'm not at all surprised, but it's still bad.

The Grey Lady at it again, saying the problem with Trump's racist remarks is he claim that "she is not one of us." The true meaning is not just to say she's not one of us - it's anti-Black racism. Adam even analogizes this to Obama's 2008 criticism of Romney as an out of touch billionaire.

Based on his statements about MVP Kamala Harris today, Trump would probably have to say Eartha Kitt was not Black. He is a very weird man, thinking he gets to define that.
August 1, 2024 at 12:18 AM
The latest weirdness from the JD Vance archive: he worries about “sociopathic tendencies” and says if you go on Twitter, “almost all of the most psychotic and deranged people don’t have kids at home.” He’s not just talking childless people; he’s talking about people who don’t have kids at home.

Disbelief is holding back White Dudes for Harris ... I admit I was unsure if it was a false flag, given personal experience and the fact it's being promoted primarily on right wing news sites. The Daily Kos thing helped. Speakers confirming independently would help. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

It's really weird to see Vance defend his insults of childless people by claiming Democrats are anti-family, given that Vance and Trump supporters have shown us they absolutely hate our family simply because my wife is Black and I'm white and our daughters are biracial.

This is exactly right. About 40 percent of the country thinks they have been blocked by a low single digit percentage of Black people. The math ain’t mathin.
it’s why you have people still blaming affirmative action for why their kids couldn’t get into harvard et al. it’s not legacies or the fact that these places are hyper-selective. it’s that there is *a* black person who took *your* spot.

Some are shocked this could happen in any business. Given trends, I'm completely unsurprised. Companies don't and probably can't screen for politics, so they will have employees who do these things. They often don't have policy or process in place to prevent them. www.cnn.com/2024/05/29/b...

Our daughter, who is biracial, is a freshman at UT. There are so many welcoming people there, but I fully endorse your message about DEI firings. These seem to me to be prompted by the state legislature and SB 17. Whether it's an over-correction or the law itself, I don't have enough details to say.
Denied the nooses, firehoses, and dogs used in previous generations, Texas racists turn to mass firings, in keeping with the anti-DEI theories of Chris Rufo and other GOP darlings, to ensure that people of color never feel comfortable at the University of Texas. www.texastribune.org/2024/04/02/u...
