Looks like the 055 can launch YJ-18 from forward bank.

2.25 you see a missile from forward bank pitch aggressively. In the next shot it looks like a Kalibr does a similar pitch maneuver, plus you can see the hot launch cell cap.

Do we know why the short life?

I was hoping the Koreans built into additional upgrade potential during the enlargement, looks like thats not the case then.

Good point. Thanks

Do you think it is also due to the need to minimize the over all number of surface ships?
I mean Soviets loved "do everything ships" like Kirov, which has S300 and a Towed sonar array.

Do you think they didnt want to build dedicated ships for both roles?

Agreed

3. Helicopters: IMRH remains in limbo and frankly speaking no helicopter comes close to cost + performance of the Mi-17. Is India going to buy expensive and less capable S-60/S-70 to fill the numbers?

IN MY OPINION

1. Tanks: All western tanks are over $30 million plus per tank except K-2. Domestic Arjun is world class, yet 200 total orders between Mk 1 and Mk 1A.

2. Jets: The MRFA vs Tejas debate will never end. Tejas Mk 1A is the only pre-2026 (realistically pre-2030 option). Only 83 orders

Your air defense systems have had monumental leaps in accuracy. Hence modern navies can get away with launching only 1 SAM per target.
That means 32 SAMs can be used against 32 targets, add #CIWS like Sea RAM, Phalanx which have accurate closed loop guidance and you should be fine with just 32 SAMs.

But I also noticed that cells from which missiles are launched do have a circular cell cap. I have marked in GREEN as well in the second picture.
Does the flat rectangular top signify a spent silo?
This means, off the 16 cells we see here half are empty.
