I love that! I've been teaching myself to use CAD, using SolidWorks. It's an interesting journey. My previous experience drafting on paper using traditional drafting tools is useful, but there's a lot of new things to learn. And it's super cool to be able to go from a 2d drawing to 3d print.

That's definitely a valid read, and an interesting conversation to have. I don't think it invalidates a more generous read or makes the person with that read morally suspect, but revisiting a story with new knowledge about its creator is definitely valuable.

Failing to re-evaluate the work in light of new knowledge might. Bit it's possible to do that and still find value in the work. I'll point at The Ender's Game series as an example.

That said, this will be challenging in this particular instance given the nature of Gaiman's work

This isn't the first time this has happened, but it hits different. Gaiman's works have been some of the most influential media for me personally. After reading the NYMag article by Lila Shapiro I know I can't ever view them in the same light again, if I can even face reading them again at all.
