Only 20% answered the question about Canada positively in the latest survey, 50% answered negatively, perhaps conditioning the response to the next question about Carney’s performance. Comparing the results of the two surveys is dubious imo. Do journalists analyze survey results?

The latest Angus Reid Institute opt-in survey claims Carney’s approval rating declined by 6 points. The latest questionnaire differed in an important way. The latest survey inserted a question about how Canada was performing in general before asking about approval of Carney.

Last two @abacusdataca election polls demonstrate why one should use demographic results of opt-in polls with extreme caution. On the eve of the election Abacus reported that Liberals had a 14-point lead among persons 18-29. Their next poll had CPC up by 9-points in this demo.

Your take on all these Trump people is an antidote.

The internet has numerous stories of Lutnick claiming companies will pay *higher* taxes under Trump, exploding Trump’s tariffs-will-replace-taxes strategy.

Lutnick gives used car salesmen a bad name.

Nice to see Elon’s net worth fell by ~8% or roughly $32 billion today. DOGE has been successful at cutting something.

Gee, imagine someone with @sethabramsom’s qualifications blocking me for a pretty mild observation. Didn’t know how to block here but Seth does.

Admired Seth 4-5 years ago and followed him but one tweet sent him off the deep end. Welcome to 2025.

There seems to be a significant issue with the @abacusdataca survey claiming that Canadians fear losing their home. Statistics Canada says about 66% of Canadians own their home but less than half of the 6,000 respondents in the Abacus “opt-in” survey said they were homeowners.

Glavin references a report as a source for the 670%.

The report however didn’t contain the research that showed the 670%, it provided a link to a news report that contained the number. The link is broken but a search of the news source found the article.

I do not doubt there has been an increase in Jew-hate. But I think journalism that glorifies a number like “670% increase” can do more harm than good. Where did this number originate?

670% appears in the sub-head of Terry Glavin’s very good piece, despite the obvious attack on Trudeau.

We know that Canadians currently spend about 5% of their viewing/screen time with TikTok (1st chart). Kids 12-17 spend about 15% of total viewing time with TikTok (2nd chart).

Nostalgia!? Many journalists who couldn’t keep/get a job at CBC call for its defunding. None acknowledge the average Canadian spends almost 5 hours per week consuming CBC/SRC content, including very large audience to CBC English radio. Context: all Postmedia =~4 min/mth online.
