one of the oddities of (Cascadian?) English is how we usually mark verbs of travel with some kind of directional indicator (e.g. "I took the train up to Portland" or "I drove out to the coast") and it can sound kind of weird and incomplete to omit them

honestly I think hierarchical PKI has just been a complete failure
outside specialized areas like military networks I think the best we can really do is TOFU + SCRAM. it's low-tech but the practical security characteristics are better than fancy shit like TLS and "passkeys"
