Fall is here, and that means the red squirrels are changing their coats! In autumn the red squirrel goes from this thinner summer coat, to a thicker winter coat that will feature tufts of hair coming up from its ears.

With their long digestive tract, specially designed for Eucalyptus, a Koala can eat tough and poisonous Eucalyptus leaves all day long! And then sleep for 18 hours of course.

Today we have the Giraffe, a herbivore who loves acacia trees and other leafy greens. They are the tallest living land animal and use their height to spot predators approaching from far away.

Apologies for the delay in animal art, preparing for the card game launch has been keeping me busy!

The Baryonyx is believed to have spent its days roaming near water and scooping up fish with its big claws. They lived about 125 million years ago and are considered part of the same family as the Spinosaurus!

Seahorses are extremely agile but terrible swimmers. They use their prehensile tail to hold onto various coral and vegetation. The most unique thing about them though is that the male gives birth to new young.

Trash panda Friday, I appreciate these cute and clever locals a lot. Raccoons use their dexterous hands to open just about anything. They are also opportunistic eaters, allowing them to adapt quickly to new environments.

A Venus fly trap polymer clay figurine I’ve made for Bay Area carnivorous plant show showroom’s artwork section last weekend 🌿 it’s a lot of fun making plant themed figurines then adding a smoool bug friend to it!

TIL the Pallas’s cat is also known as a Manul. They have unique pupils for a cat, contracting into circles rather than vertical slits. Although fluffy they are aggressive and live mostly solitary lives in crevices and caves.

Fun fact: the polar bear is actually considered a marine mammal because they depend on marine ecosystems— yet they’re also considered the biggest land carnivore in the world! Let’s do our part in preventing climate change so these big bears still have the arctic ice 🧊

An aquatic reptile for this Thursday, I present to you the Ichthyosaurus! Notable for having unusually large eyes for its time, they also gave live birth allowing them to live full lives underwater. They also had a bunch of tiny sharp teeth….

Leopard geckos are nocturnal and have the ability to drop their tail when grabbed from behind. They also have moveable eyelids which is actually pretty uncommon for geckos 🦎

Meet the Archaeopteryx, other than a sick name a fantastic set of feathers, this dinosaur astonished scientists by being one of the first late Jurassic dinosaur fossils to have avian features. It is considered a pretty strong link between bird and dinosaur.
