That's the road we came in on. Nothing out there but snow and a perfectly good pair of sunglasses.
If you really want to talk about AI, you can do it over on Elon Musk's site. You're much more likely to find your contemporaries there

You asked if people here were massively against AI, and got your answer in both a literal and figurative sense

If you have a wallet, the cons having your wallet stolen very likely outweigh the pros for you.

If you are a thief, the opposite is true

They have to hide his face, sure, but why did they use the hair from the pilot?

Some people have to invent enemies to focus on cause they don't know how to fix what's wrong with them

I remember it being newsworthy when they put Little by Little online for free download in 2005 and checked it out because of that, it was in my rotation for a while. Wine, Women and Song still goes pretty hard

I did not know this, that's really neat

I knew you could click all the torches in Act 1 to extinguish them and occasionally look for other interactions like that

The pigeons only appear once Harry threatens Kevin with a gun - the pigeon lady is the Al Powell figure, much like the neighbor with the shovel

Been trying to think of the right verb to explain this phenomenon for ages and I think "one-guyed" is a strong contender

"If they were really bad, they would've fired me! Don't think too hard about the the fact that I'm doing freelance PR for them right now and they're notorious about monitoring their employees' and contributors' social media activity."

I think when it comes to criticizing your employer, you know where the edge of the yard is. Your light critiques as a contributor grant them a plausible deniability they can point to when their actual critics speak up -- especially when you go to bat for them when there's a serious blowup like this.

My favorite ones have always been the people who say "Now do it without cheating." with a fullstop, like they get to order people to dance for them.

You do it, dickhead! You wouldn't even watch it if I did!

I will say that, over time, I've gravitated a bit more toward watching runs that resemble a skilled version of my casual playthrough with fewer sequence breaks and exploits.

But I also appreciate these preening, entitled comment section snobs for making sure I never lose perspective.

I think people were so (understandably!) desperate for a crumb of leadership and moral backbone that they were willing to see it in Booker in that moment. But imo there's nothing real behind him. He's Barney the Dinosaur brought to us by private equity, big pharma, and Benjamin Netanyahu.

It's been fascinating to watch the increased prevalence of the Jester award on Steam in recent years. You can turn off comments, but people can still anonymously antagonize you with these "rewards". Every other review or forum post has clown emojis on it now.

Yeah, or using "positive" reactions in a toxic way, people piling on 100's when someone gets personal in an argument.

I think it can incentivize people to status-farm in a variety of ways, jockeying for influence and creating weird in-groups and out-groups.
November 7, 2025 at 9:48 PM
I think reactions have their place when you want to acknowledge a point someone made in a big free-for-all without derailing the conversation, but it's easy to fall into a trap of overreliance on them, and all the bad habits they can bring
