I’ll be reviewing applications for the clinical psychology PhD program at Suffolk University for the 2026/2027 academic year. Those with research interests in #eatingdisorders, especially in #LGBTQ+ and other minoritized communities, are encouraged to apply!

Friday I walked and was hooded for my PhD in clinical psychology, earning the title of Dr. Barnhart. I am truly blessed to have shared the day with the most important people in my life, my dear friends, family, and mentors. (1)

Proud of this commentary I wrote with Megan Mikhail where we argue the next 50 years of eating disorder research must center equity & impact to actually make meaningful progress towards reducing the prevalence & progression of eating disorders. Open access:

Centering Impact and Equity in the Next 50 Years of Eating Disorder Research

I’ll just let any psychologists considering this path know: Our generation will not be as kind to you as our elders were to the likes of Barlow and Hayes.

Here is my evergreen reminder (that I used to post on Twitter) about the NSF GRFP:

Even if you didn’t get funded, there is SO much value in working through the process of developing a research idea and writing it up. Take your idea and DO IT!

Funding doesn’t make a scientist.

Xoxox
🚨 Not a drill: NSF GRFP results are NOW OUT!!!!!

But...good news and bad news.

👍 I'm *thrilled* for the grad students for whom getting this award will be life-changing, esp now.

👎 # of fellowships went down by 51%

(1000 this year vs. 2036 last year)

BREAKING: We're suing the National Institutes of Health over their politically-motivated purge of research grants.

This is an unlawful attack on scientific progress that puts lives at risk.
