🔸Women showed higher levels of #synaptic biomarkers.
🔸Men showed higher levels of biomarkers linked to #neurodegeneration, #glial activation, and #vascular dysregulation.
🔸#CSF biomarkers are more indicative of #amyloid accumulation in the brain of women

The study analysed over 900 cognitively unimpaired participants, including participants in the ALFA+ cohort supported by @caixaresearch.bsky.social.

While both sexes can be classified equally well when detecting amyloid in the brain, the study found out important differences:

MENOBRAIN will help uncover how menopause-related changes drive brain ageing and #Alzheimer’s risk and will bring together a multidisciplinary consortium of 18 participants and will train 15 PhD candidates.

We’ll combine blood biomarkers with digital cognitive monitoring tools, enabling more accurate tracking of brain health, with updated data from the #ALFA cohort.

This opens the door to earlier detection, personalized treatments, and more preventive medicine.

PENSA has shown that combining diet, physical exercise, cognitive training and a green tea compound (EGCG) can bring sustained cognitive benefits to people at risk of developing Alzheimer’s. 🧠

This is not the end: PENSA+ will keep following the cohort to expand these findings.

We participated with a short talk about lifestyle’s key role in preventing dementia, a workshop on neurons and how our brain works and we also had the #Alzheimer’s memory game “Numbers to forget.
