I was an Eighties' teen. I had no issue with that 🙂.
But these aren't event movies in times of space opera scarcity. These are TV movie stories at best, elongated to ponderous miniseries lengths that hardly advance the plot, competing with tons of other stuff 😑.
They are shooting their own foot.

Her clean lines, quirky design and apparent small size (given the windows rows, it is not that small) lend her a sense of coziness 😊. She's the chibi starship.
It would be nice if we saw more ships sharing her nacelles' tech (I understand that the some Excelsior studio models did).

For me it is her randomly blocky secondary hull. it is a step backwards. The general arrangement is nice, I think.
The final Voyager might be a bit bland in comparison, but it always impressed me as a lesson in TNG Treknology and the perfect translation of the E-D's lines to a scout design.
