I’ve been a househusband and self employed creative for the last 15 years. My wife is the breadwinner and on 24/7 call, so if anything has to take a back seat for any reason, it needs to be my work.
Even then, society still makes more excuses and more room for me because I’m white and male.

Haha, yeah, that was my point. She’s not struggling and the article is vacuous nonsense, but if even she can’t afford the oil, there’ll be families in old, rental accommodation that’ll genuinely be in trouble. This could have been a serious article about oil dependence, not “Home and country” fluff.

I often forget that people have Agas as set dressing in their homes. For a lot of old houses near me, it’s the only source of heat or means of cooking in the property. Cheaper for landlords to leave an old, oil fuelled range than install modern heating or kitchen. Bad article. Real problem.
