Mission Impossible III

Awfully dark & forgettable script imo, notable as Abram’s film directorial debut

Hoffman’s a killer bad guy though(can’t believe he’s been gone almost 12 years)

More fun mid-aughts tv cameos, JJ regular Greg Grunberg & pre-Breaking Bad Aaron Paul as…Ethan’s brother in law?

Halfway point of Spider-Woman, not aware it aired just 1 year after the character debuted. Explains lack of known comic villains.

Also Sony IP sale didn’t click until you see it in text, crazy it took re-partnership with Disney and then the Spider-Verse movies to start utilizing so many characters.

Crazy realization to me is Sherry Birkin.

6 years older than partner Jake is.

I was still pretty young when the original games released, so it never registered that irl time she’s a year older than me and about to hit 40.

Resident Evil character age updates w/spoilers as of 2026:

Leon is pushing 50 or over in Requiem depending on its timeframe (alleged 2026-2028)

Revelations 2:
Moira Burton (and 6’s Jake Muller) are about 34-35

Natalia Korda (still afaik “possessed” by Alex Wesker) is now 25.

Umbrella Corps

Doesn’t seem well regarded, and I’m not too inclined to spend time playing through at the moment with its minimal narrative, and multiplayer focused design.

*spoilers*
But worth noting it appears to be considered canon and audio alleges that Wesker is alive post-RE5.

Resident Evil: The Marhawa Desire

Don’t have time for a 5 volume manga, but now on The List.

Skimming it, seems like a decent standalone story(though translation looks rough), outbreak on a school campus that eventually sets up some of the global events of 6.

Resident Evil: Damnation

Little long, and camp even by RE standards, but goofy Lickers vs Tyrants fun.

Pretty good tonal followup bridging 4 and 6 with Leon dropped into a civil war and of course Ada is there.

Some very cool CG shots, decent messaging, fits the action movie vibe of this era.

Between the 3 indies and X-Men, I locked up my reasonable reading time for the definable future, but still stoked at my latest Kickstarter arrival.

The newest Geeks-Line retro console Anthology, the FOUR VOLUME set on the PlayStation 2.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2

I don’t remember being this high on it originally, but kinda my ideal RE.

Start of going back to survival horror exploration/puzzle basics after prior action fests. Plus co-op w/different character uses.

Wouldn’t mind 0 or another 1 remake basically exactly like this.

Biohazard: The Stage
Musical Biohazard
Biohazard: The Experience

Skimmed plots & video of the canonical Stage Plays. Seem neat so going on my movie list, but just more outbreak stories, only 1 features game characters and I cannot justify near 7 hours of subtitled stage productions in this REvisit.

Resident Evil 5

Came around on it, but after the 4 remake’s fluid movement this retroactively feels dated.

Still a fun game, AI partner isn’t awful but more a second backpack than useful companion.

Neat setting and fairly well paced, though dlc 1 feels too puzzle & 2 too combat for memorability.

Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue

Dig setup. Professional team behind them, secret IDs should’ve ended long ago & cool individual rescue Zords.

Drama isn’t that engaging & personality rarely utilized, not a great set of monsters either imo + we’re obviously long past athletic teen unmorphed fights.

Couldn’t track down The Beginning prequel comic miniseries anywhere online, rental or otherwise, aside buying a physical copy, but reading the wiki summaries it sounds fine.

Just a Leon cult investigation leading up to other events that isn’t really necessary to expand or contextualize anything.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness

Not enough meat to have a strong opinion. Leon/Claire again a year later, more about government conspiracy + human & ethical cost of causing plagues than shooting weird gooey monsters. Booorring.

Fine, but 4 30m episodes, should be film rather than episodic pacing.

Resident Evil: Degeneration

Pretty ok as a first CG canon film, airport setpiece + lab climax are fairly fun while the middle drags a bit.

Overall forgettable but it’s neat for the first Leon/Claire reunion after Raccoon City & post-RE4, and seeing the latter’s more peaceful anti-bioterror path.

I mean not knocking it, but today’s Top Cow has one of the most silly contrived splash page/pinups I’ve ever seen in mainstream superhero comics, with a teleportation escape from Mephisto leaving Elektra sprawled thonged-ass out over the lap of a winged angelic Witchblade laying in a snowy cemetery.

Tore through the last act of Batman: Revolution.

Pretty good, maybe it was reading 10 chapters straight but climax felt rushed in the last couple & I probably enjoyed Resurrection more overall. Neat bridge between ‘89 and Returns.

Little concerned how relatable I found this version of Riddler.

Love how weird comic crossovers can get.

But Disney really toying with me lately skirting around my heart’s desires doing Mickey and friends AS Marvel characters rather than a Team-Up book.

And now this before the obvious necessity of Alien vs Predator ON the Planet of the Apes.

Resident Evil: Revelations

This one’s kinda hard to rate as the only canon game in the series designed for mobile in the 3DS.

Story’s fine enough if unmemorable, setting is neat & episodic pacing is nicely short and concise, but a bit clunky to control.

Parker is a kickass new character though.
November 23, 2025 at 6:01 AM
Resident Evil 4

Though I’m partial to 2’s setting, 4 is pretty objectively the best game in the series.

That said, while the remake is incredibly fluid, great QoL and combat improvements, I think the original is a better, more creative game.

Collectibles & merchant requests oft feel like padding.

Child’s Play

Only one I watched in theaters, think it holds up ok.

Soul in doll is a better premise than rogue AI & having a kid twice the age of the original feels weird though being able to add friends is solid.

Cast is good, notably Plaza and Henry. Funny + self-aware w/o going too overboard.

Cult of Chucky

Reviewed well, but didn’t do much for me compared to Curse.

Plot conceit’s fun but haven’t needed new mental institution horror since like 1996. And tv clearly in the works, feels unresolved.

Highlights are credit stinger again & Fiona Dourif getting to do an impression of her dad.
October 23, 2025 at 2:14 AM
Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy

Really good, this is what Space should’ve been.

Not a ton of character dev, infectious energy late when Karone comes in - clear stunt training & flashes of early season unmorphed combat since lost.

Don’t love trend beginning of Red being the only important climax hero.
October 22, 2025 at 4:22 AM
Curse of Chucky

Might be my favorite. Novel kills & a back to basics single set soft reboot while adding retro lore.

Suspenseful, bit messy of a continuous ending. Weird to have a post-credits scene & remember this came out AFTER Avengers (actually all 3 Iron Mans) and time is broken and I’m old.
