It’s funny to think that 20 years ago, this month, I joined “The Facebook,” when it was opened to students at the University of Oklahoma. I was one of the first 0.183% of the more than 3 billion users to join. HALF my life lived with Facebook. But in that time it’s gone from novel the nefarious.
I’m an engaged constituent. I write and engage my congressional leaders frequently. Today I called the office of @dalewstrong.bsky.social to set up a time to speak. I want him to know the impact of #ElonMusk ‘s illegal power grab on my work and my family. Put democracy first, sir. Uphold your oath.

My husband is a recently-naturalized immigrant. After sharing a story with my mother about the Administration’s plans to “denaturalize” legal immigrants, she accused me of being “in possession of bad information.” That’s rich coming from a decades-long Fox News viewer. #queer #family #immigration

The radical change in the media landscape, and the lack of factchecking, has lead to the radicalization of the American electorate. That combined with Americans’ aspirations of wild wealth and idolization of oligarchs leads squarely to this moment.

I just permanently deleted my #Facebook and #Instagram accounts. #Meta is the root of so much evil. I hope Bluesky will be better. Fuck the oligarchs.
