Was he deliberately faking? Maybe probably actually but my point still stands he was out here writing books that many held up as a pillar of Indigenous literature and he's going off a rumour while me and others like me are wondering if we really "count" because our culture was stolen from us

Like, it's pretty clear he knew that he was about to be outed and got in front of it. I truly was starting to wonder if he'd ever address it. This is a supposed "icon of Indigenous literature." He's been in the top ten recommended "Indigenous books" for decades. How do we even unpack that.

Did he never feel this doubt did he never wonder I have family on reserve I have status and I'm so worried I'm not Native enough and thomas king can become a successful author on Indigenous issues off something his mother told him

But thomas king can become a cornerstone of Indigenous literature without being Native at all because he just believed someone when they told him he was part Cherokee
