The Edinburgh front row were surprisingly good, especially Rae. In fact for the most part our players were good today, I’m less down than you on Kinghorn. The problem is, our guys played well, with 30 minutes against 14 men, but we still lost. Those first half tries were soft tries to give away.

I’m normally very critical of Ashman but he was good today, got all his lineouts, which is usually the worst part of his play. Turner was definitely a drop off from Ashman, a comment I thought I’d never make.

I do that at any time of year.
