I break and repair things on Manjaro, NixOS, Arch, and various Fedora. Loves Rust, GPUs, and Music. Ex-Game Dev (maybe I'll make games again one day)
Nice tip! Unfortunately, the bug appears to trigger via how Universal Blue distros uses GRUB. Thankfully, Debian is working great and that's a lot nicer than maintaining boot customizations into a Universal Blue image!

Also, people are naturally curious and may even look into how their systems work when being shown what they are actually doing which could lead to more people knowing a bit more about SW.

I know that usually there is a way to enable more debugging, but sometimes there isn't and its always different per system to toggle such information. Its a bad default.

Maybe I've just been bitten too many times by broken software, or have nostalgia for old OSs, or because I am primarily an Arch user, but I will ALWAYS remove Plymouth from any Linux distro, and always feel sad during MacOS or Fedora system update progress bars.

If many logs happen in percentage, then it feels more responsive. if a step takes a long time, its easier to notice the description change than the percentage number (assuming it even changes). If a step gets stuck, that's debug info for support to know about. Especially when things break!
