Here are some facts to know and share about undocumented immigrants. I've had success educating others using this information. While some people are just racist, there are a lot of people that are just misinformed.
- undocumented immigrants paid 96.7 billion in taxes in 2022. 46.6 billion was to federal taxes. That's more than the state of Oklahoma contributes (37 billion) - Undocumented immigrants, including DACA holders, are ineligible to receive most federal public benefits - immigration status must be confirmed for benefits like food stamps. - Undocumented immigrants do not cause a rise in crime. In fact, they are LESS LIKELY to commit a crime. In Texas, undocumented immigrants were found to be 47% less likely to be convicted of any crime. - undocumented immigrants have between 40-44% of our agricultural jobs. If they are deported we will suffer from a nationwide food shortage. - There is no job shortage, and immigrants are not "taking your jobs" There is a labor shortage. Removing people will cause our nation to suffer. - There is no housing shortage, so sending people away will not make housing cheaper. In 2022 there were 15.1 million vacant homes in America. Many homes are purchased by the extremely wealthy and kept empty or used as a vacation rental. They are artificially driving up prices. - In fact, housing prices will likely rise as 23% of our construction labor force is made up of immigrants lacking permanent legal status. Because there will be less new homes entering the market, they will charge more.
