Ah, an extra hour of sleep from daylight savings time, enthusiasm at the early voting station, the buzz of the NY marathon, the NY marathon app immediately crashing from high traffic. A perfect Sunday ☺️

Got my first pair of glasses today and I can immediately feel the constant squinting of the last couple of years go away 😮

US healthcare is obviously broken, but every area being broken in a different way, requiring people to relearn how to approach it, is infuriating

Buying glasses for the first time, why does the vision insurance provider just read like an ad for overpriced glasses????

For sure the best writing on atproto that I've read yet. Love the history of and comparison to the development of the open web

Waiting on the final decisions for an eng hiring process I'm in, and, even if I don't get the job, it's so validating to know that I can actually do this

I moved into engineering a year ago, taught myself tons and found my own clients, made the financials work without full-time income. Ahhhh!!!!!!!

Hey guys! wrote a @leaflet.pub post about the ecosia x chrome situation. If your into tech or environmental justice please give it a read and spread the word (don't worry, it's good news)

Loooove this. Spending time outside, documenting nature, improving publicly available info, oh my
project idea that would give me an excuse to take beautiful color photos of natural landscapes: replace subpar, missing, or low-quality wikipedia photos on pages about biomes and ecoregions and such

Saw socialclub.nyc links to a Mastodon instance, now wondering what atprotocol.nyc could be for...

There's so much opportunity in automating boring, complex forms

I worked with a client to provide a TurboTax-esque experience around vehicle registration in Massachusetts, and they're shifting hours of repetitive, back-and-forth phone calls to just minutes a day reviewing form submissions 🎉
Get Plates
Vehicle registration, simplified, for just $99.

very excited about the engineering job I'm interviewing for right now, *very* nervous about the technical interview and my inexperience doing them

any favorite resources or advice on approaching them?

So! excited! about! everything happening in the ATProto community!!!
Extremely life affirming week at #ATProto_NYC. Some quick, scattered thoughts about where all this is heading. tl;dr: we are going to fix the internet, we're going to outcompete the freaks that we're up against, and we're going to do it together. 🧵

Nearly all of my web dev experience is in Typescript / React / Next.js, and trying out Django feels like a completely different flavor. Feels a bit naked, in the same way that Python always does to me

Installed a peg board for tool storage in my mom's craft room, and I think it actually looks good? Some rough edges, but came together in a few hours and a single trip to Lowe's so I'll call it a success

Thinking about AT Proto for indie makers of physical goods - Etsy / Shopify, but makers own their customer lists, reviews, product data, etc. and can use it across tools and platforms without being locked in or having to restart if they switch. Complex, but interesting?

I hit some watershed threshold with my follows so now seemingly every post on my timeline is about new AT Proto development, and I'm loving it

Keeping track of the 10% of features that are different between Markdown flavors / UIs (can I use ### as shortcuts for headings? how do I make a table?) will always be frustrating, but I think Linear found the right balance of smooth keyboard shortcuts and reasonable formatting design

Spent the evening adding my recently-read books to my personal site, using the @openlibrary.org Covers API for book cover images, and my basic CRM setup using Google Sheets

If @thestorygraph.com had an API I would update my reads automatically, but it'll have to be manual for now

Hey @leaflet.pub, I want to move my Markdown-based blog posts onto Leaflet, but continue to render their content on my website. I don't want to replace an entire page / subdomain with Leaflet, but would consider embedding. Do you have any tooling for this, or should I just look at the Lexicons?

I was dog sitting and on my way to take the dog for a walk, and I saw someone walking a dog that looked just like the one *I* was supposed to be walking

Fearing the dog sitting was about to become dog saving, I took a closer look

Turns out it was a different dog. But the person was Peter Dinklage
