I love how they seem to be keeping it light for what is often an emotional ceremony. It’s got to be rough especially when they have to bow out well before their time. I hope he has as great a retirement as his rival/pal takakeisho

They are still useful for a year for some things I guess but I wouldn’t rely on them to hold a sandwich secure for that length of time. The wax starts to wear off after a while

I’m not a fan of beeswax wrappers, they don’t stay closed after a few uses. Take a look at silicone clamshell storage containers, those might be large enough.

I really hate to hear this. This is heartbreaking and at the very very least the sort of thing that will keep young people away from sumo. And the Hakuho Cup is the kind of thing that encourages them to participate.
