Beautiful sunset earlier this week - the clouds made such a brilliant display of it after the stormy day we'd had here on the East Coast.

Every time I go out, I send photos to my girlfriend of flowers I see - so that by the end of the week she has a 'bouquet'. 💐
Tiger lilies, calibrachoa, lobelia, pansies, and petunias this week!
A pair of bloomed tiger lilies, they're a vivid orange color with six petals arranged in sets of three. They have long stamens at the center, and bright, long green leaves bushing below them. A mixture of Calibrachoa flowers, each is five petaled with the petals fused as they get closer to the center of the flower. Some are a cheerful yellow shade, while other are a purplish pink and have a yellow center. Lobelia lilacs and a pair of pansies. The lobelias are numerous, with fuschia petals and a pale white center. The pansies are five petaled, with ribbed edges and are purple, a little bit blue, and have golden yellow patches which are brushed over with dark purple. Constellation petunias! Ranging from a deep blue purple, to a warmer plum, their five petal flowers are speckled with white like stars.

I have opened two fortune cookies in the past week.

The first I opened had no fortune, and was *full of mould*.

The second cookie had a fortune which read: You will be recognized and honored as a community leader.

Between the two, this seems unusually targeted and ominous portent.

Set eight! Took a quick break, but we're back! The last photo is one of my favorites - I love the vivid red and oranges.

Felt like we could use a little something bright right now.

In the background you can see the paths and greens of the gardens, along with trees in autumn foliage, and the white, green and gold painted Bandstand pavilion structure. A Collarette form Dahlia flower, the eight outer petals are bright pink with streaks of paler pink and a deeper purple tinged pink, as if painted with a coarse bristled brush. They're wide and rounded. The inner petals are a cream color, shorter and thinner, and slightly curved, while the center is raised like a button and goldenrod yellow. There is a big cute bumblebee on one petal. Also green leaves and a green park bench in the background. A Stellar or Informal Decorative form of Dahlia, one fully bloomed and the other an open bud. The inner row of petals are a cheerful pale yellow hue, and absent on the lowest section with the deformed red petal. The center is round and raised, in a deep goldenrod yellow. There are deep green leaves in the foreground, and grass scattered with autumn leaves in the background.

A vibrant lipstick-red Collarette form Dahlia flower, the center is goldenrod and shaped like a button, with the shorter pointy petals surrounding it. The second set of petals are longer, wider, and set slightly apart from each other - there are eight larger petals. There are green leaves behind it and numerous other Dahlia flowers in the background. Cactus form Dahlia blooms, with tubular petals that stick out like echidna spines. They are a sunny, slightly orange tinted yellow colour. One is deeper yellow at the center, while a second has a hint of pale red. More are in the background including a number that have not fully bloomed. You can see trees with autumn foliage in the horizon of the photo. A very fancy Collarette form Dahlia flower, a single bloom in the center of the photo. It has a deep goldenrod yellow center, with two bees gathering pollen there. The first set of petals are a soft, creamy white shade, while the second are ridged with a purple-tinged intense pink, followed by pale pink, and a burst of that purple-pink at the center of each large petal. The background leaves are a dark green. Either an anemone or informal decorated form Dahlia flower, with the central flower being as large as a plate. It has many irregular petals in layers, fluffy and messy with a bit of curling at the edges. It is an intense pink-purple shade, almost fuschia, and there is another as a bud in the background. There are bright green leaves below, then grass, and autumn foliage trees in the distance.

Set number three!
Another pom-pom, two Collarettes, and an informal decorated form! With a bonus of the largest bumblebee I'd ever seen! It was the size of a quarter! So fat! So cute!!

A pom-pom form Dahlia flower, round and ball-shaped with many small fluted petals close together. It is a yellow-orange color, with reddish tips to the petals. The background foliage is deep green. An Informal Decorative form of Dahlia blossom. It is as large as a grapefruit, with multiple rows of separated petals that are an intense, deep pink colour. There is a hint of cream color towards the center at the base of the petals. A second bloom is visible in the background and a tiny round bud that hasn't bloomed yet. A Collarette form of Dahlia flower, with only half the petals remaining. It is a happy bright yellow colour, the center is slightly obscured but is a golden color. Obscured by what? A very large bumblebee! It was the size of a quarter which is very big for a bumblebee! The bumblebee has pollen on its legs and looks very fluffy and soft on the body. It is fat and shaped like a friend. A Collarette form of Dahlia blossom, with a goldenred coloured center looking like a button. The first ring of petals are small and have pointed ends, while the second ring are big and rounded! The petals are all a cheerful bright yellow colour. The foliage at the top is deep green, and you can see the rich brown soil littered with red and orange petals below the flower.

A Collarette form Dahlia flower, with a bumblebee on the center collecting pollen. There is a raised, golden center like a button, with a ridge thinner, short yellow petals around it. The second set of petals are large, wide, and a deep red-orange colour; there are eight petals. Recently the Government House in Halifax allowed guided tours of the interior - it was a fascinating experience and I highly recommend checking it out if you have the chance!

The Halifax Public Gardens Sundial, commemorated in 1967 for the 100th anniversary of our confederation and the public gardens themselves.

Also engraved with the most important part: Halifax is 1hr and 14min behind Atlantic Daylight Time.

The local public gardens had a massive exhibit of different Dahlia forms this past week! I don't want to overwhelm anyone's feeds with the photos, so I'm doing one post a day until I get through them all!

This is the types we had planted, the gardeners did an amazing job!

Got a surprising amount of Kale, some volunteer basil, and all the unripe tomatoes that were left! Hoping they'll ripen in the bag, but if not, I see fried green tomatoes in our future!

They are different sizes, some as tiny as a raisin, most are marble sized, and three are golf ball sized. Bright green kale in a wicker basket, a single ripe red-orange tomato, basil and a sprig of lettuce and more kale on a baking sheet because the basket ran out of space.
