our networks are tightly coupled with our media formats, so something that should be a blog post instead comes out as this unwanted mutant child of maybe-photo, maybe-video, maybe-text — ground up and processed into this unappetizing content soup for us to begrudgingly slurp

Oh yep I did respond — but just sent it again in case the first didn't go through. Might want to check spam folder too, in case it ended up there

Ah, sorry about that. What were you emailing about, so I can find the message?

Yo! 👋 Think I responded, but let me know if you didn't get the email. It's just me here, so responses take a bit sometimes :)

For one, being able to leverage moderation already in bsky would be absolutely huge.

Having to build all that functionality from scratch is the single thing keeping us from already having ActivityPub-enabled comments on blogs.

Seeing this, most useful and quickest way to getting ATproto into @write.as could be comments.
While Bluesky looks like other social apps on the surface, it’s actually quite different. It’s an open network.

I blogged about it here:

Beyond that, we could always send the full post contents, maybe both short and long formats alongside each other, etc. (I think that's the ideal for a platform like ours in these kinds of networks)

From the fediverse, I've seen it's hard to cram long-form content into short-form platforms without good client support (and that's beyond my scope).

So short-term, I think would use the bsky schema and just send a post intro with the link.

This is all really great information — thanks so much for sharing! I'll start digging into it all.

I've been thinking of which way to go, but I think baking a PDS into W.a is the goal.

So implementing this on @write.as is trivial. But all it really does is verify that you own your Write.as blog.

That's great, but especially with our ActivityPub integration, I think people will expect it to do more, like send out your posts from that handle.
