I need to quit Duolingo now it’s a useless AI nightmare, but I am very annoyed that it’s basically the only habit my broken brain has ever stuck with. I feel like this was my one shot at doing something consistently.

Many immaculately clean toilets (and every other theatre I’ve ever been in could learn from *that*) for everyone! A really pretty auditorium! 10/10 would Walthamstow again.
A cheerful pink circular sticker on the pavement directing me to the Soho Theatre Walthamstow. A large, I want to say Art Deco but I don’t know, foyer with a huge mirrorball and a snazzy neon sign saying “Soho Theatre Walthamstow” View from the Circle over a very large, very pretty (and I still want to say Art Deco but I still don’t know) auditorium. Stand up comedy is about to happen.

The one bit of Christmas I’m not a Grinch about. A Christmas Carol at The Old Vic keeping my heart from being all the sizes too small. (Photo taken before curtain up)

I have made it to The Importance of Being Earnest at the National. Am rewarded with glimpse of most excellent merch.
A dark pink tote bag. The print on the side of the tote bag has six white squares like little window or picture frames. Five are empty, one contains a handbag. The frames are arranged in two rows of three. In between the two rows of frames, it says “A Tote Bag?” which is a reference to the famous “A handbag?” line in An Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde.

I forgot how pretty Drury Lane is.
The auditorium of the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Facing upwards from a seat in the Stalls to take a picture of a bit of the stage and its curtains, the ceiling and the boxes. Purple and gold lights are shining. There is an amount of red velvet and gilt that would be obnoxious if it wasn’t a theatre. As it is a theatre, it looks dramatic, and old-fashioned, and like there’s a non-zero chance of The Opera Ghost dropping a chandelier on someone. A close up (because I didn’t want to include the faces of people who might not want to be in it) of the safety curtain during the interval. The curtain is decorated to look like a huge, ornate, gold-coloured fence. A large oval in the middle has the words “FOR THINE ESPECIAL SAFETY” inside. There is ornamentation on top of ornamentation all over the fence. Winged figures, and vases, and just every twiddly over the top thing you can think of. The opposite of a fence made out of straight metal bars.

The less accidental part was me going to Come From Away this evening, but I booked it like a year and a half ago, so people who made the rota at 5pm on Thursday don’t get to complain.
The outside of the New Wimbledon theatre at night. An old (I’m guessing Victorian?) building with its name in red probably-not-actually-neon lights. The audience are walking up stairs and past pillars to a semicircle of doors. There’s a decorative iron balcony above the doors and you can just see the blue and yellow poster for Come From Away to the left of the balcony.

The more accidental bit was Friday night seeing Hadestown again. Obviously can’t see Zachary James’ final performance now (it’s Sunday) but I saw him again after not having much luck on that front*

I apologise if I babbled. I don’t remember. My head was full of the white noise of fangirl panic. I’ve shipped Tremaine and Ilias since the books came out.
Three old, slightly battered because of how many times they have been read, extremely beloved paperback books. Specifically Martha Wells’ Ile-Rien trilogy. The corner of each book is showing as they are fanned out. They are very pretty. The inside title page of the first book, “The Wizard Hunters” by Martha Wells. It’s signed by Martha Wells. Signed! So much fangirl squee.

Nothing wrong with flouncing around in jimjams *and* a bonnet if it’s comfortable! Or there’s a much plainer one that’s pretty much the first thing that pops up when you search, but Amaz*n is maybe the least awful of the people selling it and I don’t know what your personal mileage is for that…
