vrchat knew this was an important tool for creators so attempted to fix it so this wouldn't be an issue

I believe cyan denied it because he held a grudge and knew this would be the perfect way to get back at them

it is petty and is at the cost of creators directly by cyanlaser.

Tapping the "if you're going to rely on a tool like this make sure it's open source." Sign
My real bad take here is I don't want VRChat to be the one making the tools. I want open source community tools.

in my opinion vrchat went above and beyond to go out of their way to offer to fix it

There is no excuse for it. Cyanlaser chose to hold a grudge and use this as an excuse to burn creators and blame it on vrchat. It is disgusting.

There is zero issue with the community making tools to make their processes better. I rather open source community made tools than proprietary ones that creators can't lay a hand on to make work for them.

Which ironically is exactly what's happening with cyantriggers now.

This was not what happened. VRChat simply offered to fix it for free so he would not have to maintain it anymore.
Instead of potentially negotiating, he shut it down completely because the way they communicated to him was not "professional" enough for him. By his own words.

all my respect and trust for him is gone after this. if you're going to rely on a tool like this make sure it's open source. // 5/5

His choice here is a big "fuck you" to VRChat creators, including myself, who relied on it—and is obscenely manipulative to be acting as if VRChat did anything wrong by going out of their way to offer to fix it for him to take it off his hands. Something he had zero intention of maintaining. // 4/5

If he wanted to be paid for his work, he could have negotiated it with VRChat.

If he did not want VRChat’s hands on it at all, he could have put it under a licence that would have been beneficial to the community and allowed them to continue it. // 3/5

VRChat offered to go out of their way to fix it for him; he told them no because he had a grudge and is now using it.

The licence is outwardly hostile to the creator community, and he should be held accountable for now trying to weaponise the community against VRChat because of his choices. // 2/5

chill the fuck out. this isn't a problem unique to vrchat, if there were a solution the internet as a whole would have done it by now.

vrchat as a platform like any other can't watch every single person 24/7 to make sure they aren't doing anything wrong and it would be a complete breach of privacy if that were the case
