Fantastic post
A journalist asked me to comment on a paper that claims COVID vaccines are linked with cerebral thrombotic syndromes (this disagrees with various recent, good studies). I'd like to walk through my assessment of the paper's limitations, and would love to hear others' thoughts on anything I'm missing!

NY Post doesn't provide the context that the data Johnson is demanding comes from VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System), an online portal to self report vaccine reactions. Unsurprisingly, a lot of people abuse it to post false reports about Covid vaccines.

2. VAERS data alone cannot determine if the vaccine caused the reported adverse event. Establishing a causal relationship requires rigorous scientific assessment & consideration of multiple factors beyond just VAERS reports alone.

The VAERS data has been published in the peer reviewed literature several times. There are not 500 deaths reported. There were 2 in this publication about the 9 valent vaccine, neither related to vaccination. Rate of SAEs was 7 per million doses. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31740500/

To be clear, vaccine injuries do occur at an exceptionally rare rate and these people are not doing them any favors by exploiting them for political gain. VAERS/OpenVAERS = still not reliable sources from which to pull data as the cases are not yet verified.
