Matt is very good at taking positions that get him yelled at by people left and right, which further increases his profile among the center, who believe that if the right people are mad at you, your opinions are correct

And I am <in favor> of air quality regs, fwiw! however I'm not in favor of the regs that don't let you put power outlets on kitchen islands or require a 60 foot setback or minimum parking reqs or idiotic facade/frontage requirements
