"Don't tell me I'm still on that feckin' island".

North wind today, Steptoe fingerless glove weather. #IsleofMan

When gates open at French & German flea markets, the first wave of buyers are invariably men, with shoulder bags & torches. They ask each stall holder for jewelery (that may contain gold), any LPs & any Pokemon. I never knew what the Pokemon was, but today I found one on the beach. #allwashedup

A welcome, dry day in the Isle of Man. 2 hours around the coast, no peoples, but plenty of company - ravens, choughs & singing seals.

Isle of Man, full to overflowing.

Wet, wet, wet. The Isle of Man is full and overflowing. Last week, the road grids were fountains. Today, a field fountain. #IsleofMan

4 years train travel within EU, no issues with dog. But no dog on Eurostar. No foot passengers on LeShuttle. No foot passengers with dog on short channel crossings. (We take IOM > Liverpool > London> Harwich, overnight Stena > Rotterdam)

This is reply I got from Eurostar in 2022. I have written to Virgin. But no reply.

2 photos, 14 years apart. Bolzano station is such a fine way to enter, or to leave Italy.

Reading slowly to make the journey last. If you have an interest in Italy, history or hiking, you may enjoy this walk with Tim Parks. Another of his fine non-fiction.

The Isle of Man celebrates Hop-tu-Naa, & does not normally have trick-or-treaters. But it is still worth preparing a reception, in case any dare to call at the house where the strange old hippy lives.

Only a dozen apples on our little cordon. But a good weight.

Oystercatchers & Galloway hills. The Isle of Man is nearer Scotland than Brexitland, Wales or Ireland. There used to be a ferry to Scotland (Ardrossan) but now we have to use England's back door, Heysham, turn left & make a dash for the Scottish border.

Pink, moon. On calm nights, the evening offshore breeze brings the smells of the restaurant, particularly distressing if I have gone fishing before my tea. #IsleofMan

"A beach is a place where a man can feel
He's the only soul in the world that's real". I'm not sure if that still applies in Brighton, where Quadrophenia was filmed, but here in the Isle of Man, you can have a beach to yourself most anytime.

Slow duck. Late arrival from 2006 World Record Duck Race. The Isle of Man receives Liffey litter in SW winds. Lighters, syringes, birthday balloons & knotted Tayto plain (cheese&onion) crisp packets. #allwashedup #plasticbeach
