Can you stop hiding replies on my behalf?
It feels like a heavy hand: I am a average aged adult who can generally manage her threads, and when I need a hand, that's what I assume reporting is for. One thing I value about Bluesky has always been the DIY social aspect. I understand and support the decision to centralize some aspects of moderation, but automatically hiding some replies feels like an imposition of social theory. I am not comfortable handing over control as to which replies “elevate” discourse and discussion, to a for-profit company. Moderation decisions about slushy concepts, like what constitutes a healthy culture online, can change radically- and dangerously- if the company is acquired. I don't think I need to cite the example we're all thinking about*
It's kind of janky: It's not only disappointing that I have no control over this, it's also ineffective. Often whatever rudeness detector you're using catches jokes and statements of general shared frustration, not hostility towards me or any other individuals, and hides thise. I want to see those replies! Sometimes a total web rando has a great joke, or is complaining about somethingin agreement with me. Thats fun! Thats why I'm hete. The moderation autohide system lets through annoying or mean replies anyway, because it doesn't have an understanding of nuance- the technology just isn't sophisticated enough to trust with complex social judgment calls

Ok so: I encourage you to allow users to opt out of having replies to their threads auto-hide. A multi tiered system would be on brand, “show/hide/hide, but notify” kind of a thing. You're the designers, though, whatever works as long as I can opt out of having this system moderate posts for me
