Americans are just taught that we’re the best country in the world and the leaders of human rights so protesting the government is anti-American and also anti-democracy so the govt feels justified in shutting it down

French schools put a lot of focus on teaching French identity, culture, & history including an emphasis on the motto of the French Republic which is “Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity”. Democracy and human rights are literally core values so protesting to uphold them is considered noble

same but I love it here
