We literally all need to be taking the entire day off work and going like this all day to prevent landlord fix-it guys from ruining something in the apartment

I think my boss is like exactly 45, so that’s why I find his behavior so mind boggling.

I have heard stuff like “you will have a target painted on your back with Mamdani as mayor.” Like no, I think people’s inability to check their privilege (you can be both privileged and oppressed — intersectionality), and being Judaism now being cast as culturally reactionary, is far worse for us

I think my boss, who is an Ivy League educated reform rabbi, has been trying to get a confession out of me that I voted for Zohran. My dad told me to lie and say I voted for Cuomo if pressed

Just talked in person for the first time since June with my dad. I was avoiding him for months because he kept sending vile anti-Zohran emails to me and his friend group. I think I would describe him as a left leaning artist and anti capitalist who is definitely not observant, just CNN pilled.

So this is really a problem of media coverage – and it will have downstream effects throughout society, even though he's supposedly just talking about himself. I bet there is some better, more critical coverage out there, but only slop like CNN is unpaywalled

I saw a doctor I can recommend but I literally can't go back to him for re-evaluation because I switched insurance to get the mouth guard he prescribed, and now he's in the NYU Langone system, my greatest barrier to medical care. F

Also, of course, the idea of Bill Gates saying there aren't enough resources for anything is laughable.

Climate change and hunger also require reeeeally different interventions. Ending hunger is a matter of making sure the right stuff (food and crops) is in the right place in the right time. Climate change is a massive research project that in the Good Timeline could have been our "new space race"

It feels like the last 30 years of US politics on a grand scale, with so much energy spent on putting out fires that there is no progress, and the whole zeitgeist continually slides backward.

I hadn’t heard much bad news from Apple in a while so a little startling to see them on a “donation to Trump” shortlist.

Disappointed but not entirely surprised, they’d been laying low with their bootlicking for the past year. Didn’t think I’d see them on a “donation to Trump” list (what a concept) while people are losing SNAP benefits in a week, though.
