I mostly just reply to stuff with piss-takes —frequently a fool. He/Him, all opinions expressed are quite possibly poorly thought out.
Snow crusting into ice on a good pair of boots is just such a better look than clipping a labubu onto a shoe. Like what was he even doing there?

Maybe it’s cleaning day and they’re getting ready to pick things up, pick things up, pick things up?

You gotta watch out with Powell’s, tho. It’s so easy to accidentally get such a good deal on a bunch of books that Portland suddenly becomes even less affordable
(I do love that they’re cool with you just reading in the coffee shop and then leaving, though. They know that sooner or later you’ll buy)

I wish the train through the PNW was just a little bit faster and had a slightly better timetable. It’d make day trips easy peasy.

Okay, that’s pretty cool.

I’m still gonna rep Movie Madness (and therefore PDX) but next time I’m up there I’m gonna have to get my museum on.

The life of the shoes matters, though.

A pair of Docs now will wear out before the pair of Docs I bought 20+ years ago will. “Number of pairs” may be up but “amount of shoe for the money” is hella down.

Hell, it’s mostly just synthetic upper models in any non-specialty store.

In favor of retreading: the sole on a retread may very well last the upper on a new/synthetic pair.

Does becoming curry count as an onion going to mirepoix-halla or should I try to invent another term in my head?

I mean, Seattle has museums too. But the dress! And a fuckton of other props from movies! And The Battle for Algiers on DVD and (iirc) laserdisc!

They’re probably the two cities in America where “that sign or billboard has bad kerning” is most likely to cause immediate graffiti (as a form of immune response), fwiw
Portland does have a movie rental place that is also a museum that has The Dress from Gone With the Wind *and* the Alien head, tho

I feel like getting selected to be part of such a performance is a pretty massive good star all on its own, let alone being extra favored. That rules.

Honestly it’d be even more valuable to do in a probability and statistics class. Verbalizing why a tiny false positive rate is why we don’t administer HIV tests if the risk is even lower? Extremely valuable for understanding.

I loved doing proofs! They were fun and exciting and slowing down to write each step out was torture!

For me it was a “once I start doing one I go to a nonverbal place” so switching that part of my language center on was torture.

But… yeah, most people don’t like them as is.
November 12, 2025 at 3:18 AM
And for fuck’s sake I now professionally deal with “for any correlation we can not only assume causation but also decide which one we want to be the input” fuckery and that shit is hell too.
November 12, 2025 at 3:12 AM
I now have a lot more understanding of why a past professor required us to write out full English explanations for each step of our proofs while we were doing our proofs.

That shit fucking sucked but being able to explain your work is how you stay on top of understanding your work.

Gore Vidal called but he was too busy pantomiming the “sickos/ yes hahaha yes!” meme to say anything.

K2 hates all of us. I just hope that some people decide to climb K2.

So he plans on living forever, then?

I will say that the voice masking thing is like… the only solution to “allow comms but also don’t fuck women gamers over” that I’ve seen to date.

Moderating all voice chat ever with a fast enough turnaround just isn’t there, y’know?

Plus “the spec was *designed* to support a fire of x intensity, but the spec also assumed the insulation foam was gong to be applied properly” factors in.

I don’t in a million years trust the Senate republicans to actually vote on the promised ACA measure, that part was always a “scorpion says lol, lmao” provision
November 10, 2025 at 8:35 PM
This forcing the house to convene and seat the special election winners but then fizzling because the House republicans are rabid infighting fuckwits might be the best possible outcome.
November 10, 2025 at 8:34 PM
If it fails in the house then the 8 defecting senators can say that they did it to show dems are willing to work with republicans and the republicans fucked it up, kinda?
