(Much of this backlash is just puritanism. Hatred for porn OR for fluffy romance. You rarely see anyone really grumbling about an action fanfic or an eldritch horror one, UNLESS it also overlaps with romance and/or smut.)

I hope what's currently happening to Nakufin will open some eyes. This American puritanism / pro-censorship trend is ridiculous. Making art isn't a crime, even less drawing cute creatures.

It's infuriating to see artists losing their job just because what they draw doesn't please some fruitcakes.

Like if you say shit like "feral artists deserve to be deplatformed" but you're retweeting the censorship calls to action, you're a fucking fake, lol. You're pro-censorship, pro-conservatism, pro-sex-negativity, pro-puritanism. Quit playing yourself

Also yeah the bans on hypno porn have been the case for a long time now. For those who don’t know it mostly stems from payment processors getting refund requests from people saying they were forced to pay while hypnotized or whatever, it’s a long story but really really dumb.

A writer who started their own small press and then put their own creative work mostly on hold in order to run the company would be the definition of petty bourgeois. Whether one is "hard working" has nothing to do with it. But again, all of this is beside the point. 2/2

DOES copyright protect small artists? Copyright even seems to me to be the primary force in the world that can prevent artists from profiting from their own work.

Hell, a lot of us work multiple jobs so that we can keep creating stuff for people to read or listen to.

Because making stuff matters to us. It's worth all the work for us.

We're not the elite. We're working stiffs. Who make stuff they like.
