Hey hey what do you want me to explain further?
November 27, 2024 at 9:05 AM
Not on the level of applied studies due to exams and so on but I promised myself to take at least one hour a week siting in a cafe or another public space to observe more social life itself!

Yeah it's easy to drift away in theorys trying to fully comprehend them, a bit more empirical work is sometimes very valuable!

No unfortunately not 🫠

Absolutely agreeable in my opinion, in my eyes this also perfectly to observe in mass cultural phenomenons where participants celebrate their "individuality"

Can you recommend any research about this clan-individuum phenomenon?

How about conspiracy theorists?

When choosing between the French poetic writing style of Foucault and the convoluted and unfocused jargon of Habermas, I definitely prefer the former... much more inspiring.

His 'shape-work' is fascinating. I think that the tension between the individual and society and the idea of centripetal or centrifugal forces of social circles go hand in hand. By working with the concepts of social circles, the conflicts could certainly be described more analytically.

What is 'same gender loving' meaning in difference to gay/lesbian? Maybe it's because of the language barrier or my lack of knowledge because I have not yet dealt with the subject so intensively.

How can we channel these conflicts productively instead of letting them escalate? Do we need less societal complexity, more communal values, or something entirely different?

Could this vicious cycle explain the rise of identity-based movements and polarized political blocs? The urge to push back against the perceived dominance of "the leftist dictatorship," "right-wing extremists," or "sheeple" may stem from this struggle for individuality?

1. Individuality depends on the richness of options created by societal complexity.

2. That complexity demands a level of precision that dissolves individuality into impersonal conformity.

3. This intensifies the overwhelming societal power that individuals seek to resist.

Yet, this very precision transforms individuals into impersonal units of a larger system. A vicious cycle emerges:

Maintaining societal complexity—the source of these possibilities—requires meticulous precision and exactness. He writes:
"If all the clocks in Berlin were to suddenly go wrong, even by just one hour, the entire economic and social life of the city would be thrown into chaos for a long time."
