The fact that fellowships always have some stipulation about not having other income is so out of touch. Like, just say you only want scholars who have family wealth or other kinds of financial support. Some of us have to work through school, and it’s wild how that disqualifies us from so much.

There’s something adorable about still seeing witches on the internet who are particularly mad at nineties teen witch books that suggested teens might lie to their parents. Like, gasp, yes, what a travesty. I don’t know who your parents were, but mine still need to be lied to.

Tender-minded and tough-minded people, characterized as I have written them down, do both exist. Each of you probably knows some well-marked example of each type, and you know what each example thinks of the example on the other side of the line. They have a low opinion of each other.
