Fantastic! Loved the sarcastic humor throughout this story of a PhD with a savior complex and mommy issues working with the UN to deradicalize ISIS brides in Iraq.

4.5⭐️ the pacing at one point felt a little off, but not horribly #recentlyread #booksky #fiction

Read & Returned 📚✅️

Catcher- a buddy read to see if the book we hated in high school would be better as an adult. Both yes and no somehow. 2.75/5

Crooked Seeds- off a prize longlist. I liked it much better than I expected to. Still... liked not loved. Awful MC! (but well written) 3.5/5

Netanyahu has not allowed any aid into Gaza in 22 days. He broke the ceasefire, resuming a bombing campaign that has killed more than 50,000 people. Now he is threatening a long-term occupation of Gaza.

NO MORE MILITARY AID TO NETANYAHU’S WAR MACHINE.

I read Liars by Sarah Manguso off the Carol Shields Prize for Fiction Longlist. About a woman's transition from artist to wife to mother and her maintaining those identities while in a toxic relationship. Couldn't put it down! Reads as a mostly linear collection of moments- very propulsive! #booksky

Well... That's 3 in a row from this guy that have been flops. I think I need to stop pushing it. HORRORSTOR was my 1st and fave of his, and nothing else has come close. Witchcraft for Wayward Girls could have done so much, but I think he lost his hold of the plot #recentlyread #booksky 📚💙

No matter the writer's skill, this makes the 2021 prize committee's defence of transwomen feel shallow and performative, while now in 2025, the prize seems to be capitulating to conservative ideology... or they just don't care, actually.
I posted, the deleted and ran back to ig bc I know I've made that a safe place and I'm still new to #booksky... but here goes: I am beyond disappointed in the #womensprize for longlisting adiche.

Soooo.... this just stays here unfinished forever now? Couldn't play Saturday, and didn't get out til 2p on Sunday. Also, didn't want to spend $$$$ to keep buying passes (did spend some tho). So now that event is over there's no way to get fusion energy? Am I missing something? #unova #pokemongo

Loved this #RecentRead about a man whose husband is so opposite of him politically he decides to run for Congress as a republican. There are two other characters we follow- a very complicated 2nd chance ❤️

Explores what who we love says about us. 5⭐️

My #PokemonGo started as: my fam is doing it, I have FOMO, so I'll follow their lead. They aren't interested in Vivillon, and didn't tell me how addicting it is to fill in badges, but now I'm hooked! help me out! I send Polar 🎁 or I will, (I've depleted my gifts at the moment) #vivillon #pogo 🦋🌍📍

An American flag built on the backs of Black people...

Black music protesting white political terror in registers they never hear; reminiscent of ancestral spirituals embedded with instructions for runaways

All this in New Orleans... What a moment
