The figure below shows survey responses. Interest in environment, education, health, econ. development, and community engagement were consistent in survey responses s well as choices made by students in open-ended data-centric assignments (i.e., through choice of dataset and analysis focus)

Black bars represent men, white bars represent women/non-binary students. Asterisks indicate statistically significant differences. AI shows highest interest overall (~80% men, ~58% women/non-binary, significant difference). Other topics with significant gender differences include Education, Health, Environment, Rights, Justice, Housing, Poverty, Race, Food, and Gender, with women/non-binary students showing higher interest in most of these domains. Privacy shows roughly equal interest (~50% both groups).

Great! Be warned though, it’s a pretty limited set of events.
Caveats with the events dates used in the map: Not all listed events in the Wikipedia page will result in an event object being emitted. For example, if there was no location identified for the event (since the goal was to plot events on a map). Scraping the English Wikipedia means that data is very skewed to European history. Events in other continents tend to appear when Europeans reached those other continents. Consider other sources of data, perhaps non-English Wikipedia. Many events may not have recorded exact dates with the month and day, so they wouldn't show up here, English Wikipedia or no.
