I hope everyone reading my words learn something to help combat the ignorance they find in their own life. And then i hope they get a chuckle out of gifs and memes.
I have found it to be true. It is effective because people want someone else to blame for their hardships and are given a ready-made answer by the propagandists. Real fixes are hard to implement, hard to explain, and dont often benefit the wealthy/power, so easy scapegoats are provided instead.

Asking people to "tone down" while the MAGA/GOP continue their rhetoric against their political opponents (e.g. Paul Pelosi, Trump threatening judges, etc ) is akin to asking one side to drop their knife in a knife fight when the other side brought a gun.

Intelligence (i.e. science, education, critical thinking, etc.) is the enemy of ideologues and authoritarianism. They need a dumb, fearful, poor, and sick populace that is easier to control and unable to rebel. This this also the need for a recession and inflation.

All of this is a shiny "lets just do the 'cool' stuff" without regards to the science and engineering needed for it, as well as killing climate science and its inconvenient truths.

The answer is 100%. We also got these gems, "but sometimes we can let safety be the enemy of making progress. We have to be able to … take some leaps." This is not the spirit of NASA, this is a twisted 'tech bro' vision. NASA strives to do things right, safe, and lasting.

They were too wrapped up in Enlightenment idealism to the point where they made a system of government that relies on norms, traditions, and good morals. They could not conceive of an entire party breaking the systems in every branch, or ignoring the crimes of the people they align with.
