Exactly! We briefly gave weapons to the communists knowing they were going to use them to kill French soldiers because the guy we had running things was mostly left alone and did the obvious moral calculus that the French colonial forces were right bastards.

The more great things there are about a game, the more bad things I'll put up with*, and I just don't see any greatness in Rise of the Tomb Raider.
*Por ejemplo: Shadow of War has a broken multiplayer system and a forgettable main story and the best gameplay loop in its genre. 9/9

These two problems are not enough for me to forgo the third entry. Instead, the reason I'm not going to play Shadow of the Tomb Raider is because this game didn't give me anything that I can't get from other games that have fewer weaknesses. 8/9

If the puzzles had been harder, I would've also become frustrated (because of my aforementioned character flaw), but I wouldn't've felt stupid. This, for example, was my experience with The Witness. 7/9

Second, I am impatient with puzzles (yes, this a criticism of myself and not the game). The puzzles in the game are not difficult, and because of that, when I struggle with them, I judge myself stupid and get frustrated. 6/9

I have two main criticisms. First, the writing is not very good. All of the emotional dialogue is cliched and unconvincing. This made the beginning of the game especially difficult to enjoy. 5/9

The hair physics do look a little goofy to me now. When Lara fixes her hair after getting out of the water I go back and forth between finding it silly (complimentary) and silly (derogatory). The gratuitous death scenes bother me a little more now than I suspect they did back then. 4/9

There are some things I remember, of course (though mostly because I consumed other criticism of the series at the time). I remember discussions around the hair physics and the graphic death scenes (for Lara). 3/9

It's hard for me to know when my criticisms 1) were also ones I had about the first game, 2) apply specifically to the second game, and 3) apply equally to both games but I didn't have them about the first game because I was a different person eight years ago. 2/9
