Threatening to deport someone because you disagree with their policies is grossly un-American—and conjures images of some of the most horrific regimes.

I stand with Zohran, my Muslim-American colleagues, and everyone who believes this kind of racism and hatred have no place in our country. Ever.

Mamdani won the Democratic Primary in New York City because he ran a hopeful campaign that connected with people of every race and identity, in every borough, and spoke to the issues they care about—like food and housing costs.

That kind of energy and enthusiasm should be celebrated. Not vilified.
