This is the front page of my hometown paper. This was a place where I had to be registered Republican just to vote in primary elections because no Democrats were running as late as 2006. The fact that protests happened here, in this place, more than anything else, gives me hope in this dark time.

It's not showing up anymore but yesterday Google Maps had "Tropical Storm Helene" as a marker on the map, with instructions to emergency services. It was cool and seemed helpful. But because Google Maps is Google Maps, it also gave me the option to get driving directions back *to* the storm 🤦🏻‍♀️
