a haunting read that makes a dystopia feel like a horror book because, welp, of how reality is going rn. the narrative style was very interesting and while the last chapter wasn't bad, idk how much it adds to the overall story

the intrigues and the twists were fun, even though i watched the movie before reading it. plus the style makes it a pretty quick and light read

a compilation of short stories, very good but also quite haunting. a few of them left me wanting for more, not wanting to believe it ended there and didn't keep going. having that happen a few times was frustrating but honestly i still liked it

glad i didn't give up on this after the first book, because this was a lot better. more balanced protagonist-wise, even if the ending felt a little bit rushed, i still enjoyed it a lot more than the previous one

would have liked it a lot more if it focused primarily on yangchen rather than her new, male companion. big wasted potencial there, tbh
