Great to talk to

The world has changed and we need a flexible, future facing fiscal strategy. Long term savings can be delivered through welfare reform and benefit everyone but a short term cuts based approach is extremely risky.

We need to provide opportunities, support, and skills training to help people move from our social security system into well-paid jobs.

The Chancellor is in a tight spot—global events have narrowed the options she had just a few months ago. But cutting welfare isn’t the solution. The government must now ask: are its past tax pledges still deliverable?

Absolutely brilliant analysis by Jodie Reed for IPPR and Save the Children. It is an exciting time for early years with unprecedented funding, focus and opportunity. Delivering on this promise will require a proper reimagining of early years provision as public service. Time to roll up our sleeves.
Excited to have this out today.
