Big fan of Hurricanes that don’t hit land
Formula 1 fan (Forza Ferrari!)
GOES-19 Satellite images, meanwhile, shows the earlier partially exposed low-level rotation on the North edge of convection has now broadened and slowly rotated towards the MLC. Any new low-level center would have ~18 hours left over water to consolidate rotation before landfall.

Just got an update email that there’s someone in the parking lot that is believed to be suicidal, and police are currently “managing the situation.” Hope they manage to keep them safe. I’m at the other lab, but my co-interns in Mesa say business inside is mostly normal but everyone is staying inside

Yep, just came through. No visible difference other than the wind picking up and it becoming significantly colder. Pretty cool to experience

Still quite warm—probably high 70s—in Clark, Union County. Front is very close based on radar though

I’m jealous, “Bowl a 150 in a single game” and “Bowl a turkey” are both on my 2025 bingo board

These are still pretty simple plots, but I think it’s a good start. From here the plan is to try more models, “complicated” variables, radar, and satellite to make them fit the same theme. After that, custom colormaps, as much as I like the NWS ones provided by Herbie.

Appreciate any feedback!

Here’s another one: 1h rainfall during the remnants of Hurricane Ida flooding event in the Mid-Atlantic. Note the cell of 3”+ rainfall rates! My home in NJ saw over 10” of rain on that crazy day.

Took a while to get the map to look right, and I’m still not sure this is the best I can do.

This took me three tries to post as my gifs were turning into still images, and then it turns out you can only attach one video per post, so here’s the temperature loop. Still getting used to BlueSky.

You can see the passage of the storm line significantly outrunning the actual cold front!
