After years of searching, the logo for Norman Lear's TAT Communications Company was finally found on a 1979 airing of The Jeffersons!

This classic logo for Mosfilm, Russia's largest film studio, is the oldest on-screen logo still used, being first used in 1947. Although it was initially discontinued in 2003, the studio revived it in 2012 for use on historical films set during the Soviet period.

Two gongmen have starred during this logo's lifespan. From 1944-1957, heavyweight boxer "Bombardier" Billy Wells was the gongman, and from 1957-1997, it was Olympic medalist wrestler Ken Richmond (both pictured below).

One of the most iconic logos in British cinema, the Rank Organisation logo featuring a man hitting a gong has embedded itself in popular culture and was parodied numerous times.

While it may seem as CGI at first, the 1993 PBS ident (designed by Telezign) is mostly live-action, captured on 35mm film and later composited on a Quantel Paintbox. It was created with frosted glass models, with the "PBS" text rotated with rostrums.

Perhaps Korean Film's most notable release is Pulgasari, a North Korean Godzilla-like kaiju film.

North Korea's principal producer of feature films is the Korean Film Studio (조선화인), a state-run studio of about 10 million square feet founded in 1947 and located outside of Pyongyang. It has been said that the studio produced about 40 films a year (almost 4 films a month).

If you grew up in the 90s-early 2000s, you might remember seeing this (loud) DTS trailer at the movies. It made its debut in 1993, preceding the film Jurassic Park.
