I went to a Persi Diaconis talk recently where he discussed a fair amount of card shuffling math. Here was his handout. You want sections 3 and 4 but might like 7 too.
Larger decks would need more riffles. His big point: it's all about what deviations from random you want to allow/have power against

Decidedly not deepfakes but this made me look up when Deep Dream was. (2015)

Thomas Landauer was getting decent results on automated essay grading with latent semantic analysis in the 90s. I'm curious about why this has regressed so far.

I learned on this beast. I had forgotten it had a turnstile key and I have no idea what the square key was for.

Sliced strawberries, crumbled cheese, chopped pecans, honey and angostura bitters.
This wasn't as good as it sounded but it sounded pretty good. I used 6 dashes of bitters but barely noticed it should have added more.

Neighbors have an apple tree and can't give them away fast enough, so I sliced one up, put it in a nutmeg, allspice + cinnamon dutch baby and melted some cheese on top.
The batter was too thick, should have added another egg. And it might have been better with maple syrup but did fine without.

English muffins with a sausage patty, a slice of Fog, green onion, baby spinach and mayo.
So good.

I had a sweet potato that needed to be used so I roasted it with some shallot, marjoram and thyme, and sprinkled some Fog cubes on top.
This was delicious.

Emboldened by the orange + cheese, I tried putting a slice on a bacon frittata, added some chopped grape tomatoes quick pickled in red wine vinegar, thyme and salt, and garnished with green onion.
I wish I'd left out the cheese.

Toasted English muffin, a slice of melted Fog, and mandarin orange segments.
This was quite good.

I'm in the kitchen trying stuff to see what works..
My housemate brought home a half wheel of Humboldt Fog. This is a soft goat cheese - that's not Bleu mold tho but lines of ash. It does have an edible rind of white mold. The inner part is like chevre, the outer like brie.
I've been experimenting.🧵

This meal just cost me $78 at the Newark airport. This is why Americans think the economy is terrible.
